im thinking of buying a military in cpm s30v, i want to carry it IWB, right back side, rotate it with my delica in EDC
i also had my mind on a Police model, in vg 10, but i like the military, looks more durable, more solid, ready to take hard use :D
i have an frn endura in that class size...but i think the military is stronger
anybody has the military, what do you think about it ?

The first and last millie I bought is the new S90V with CF handles, it is a great knife that I am proud to have in my collection... but IMO its not a hard use knife the blade is just to thin. It is a great slicer and I think it will work good on future hunting trips but it will never see hard use like some of my other knives.

I agree with knifenut1013, it's a great slicer, but I would never consider it a hard use knife. It's been my favorite knife for over a month since I bought it, but I realized very quickly that it's a good "kitchen knife on the go."

Not to discourage you, but I think the Endura 4's are tougher than the Military since they are thick all the way to the tip and have a thicker edge angle too.

Well, the Endura is more suited to being a screwdriver but the Military is a good tough all around user. Just don't use it as a screwdriver or for prying things and you'll never have a problem. The Military is a solid knife and probably my favorite Spyderco. I carry mine in my RBP and it is very easy to access.

It depends on what you mean by "hard use."
Prying: no.
Opening boxes all day: yes.
Defense: sure.
Its liner lock is second only to my BM Gravitator(which is really a frame-lock with scales:p), and it's handled all my cutting duties, plus a bit of stabbing it really probably shouldn't of had to endure.
But, for IWB carry, I'd recommend a Spyderco Police, SS handle, and get it engraved or bead-blasted for grip; or just add a little grip tape.

I have 3 Millies and I also like to carry IWB at 10:00. I'm 5'10", 165 lbs, and the Millies are a bit long for that particular carry to be comfortable for me. My Para is perfect IWB. That's the only way I carry it.

I think Stabman and Carrot have answered the "hard use" question pretty well. Used as a knife, the Millie should take whatever you want to throw at it.

hmm, ill consider it...
now i have my eyes on the chinook too, and the harpy is looking so good...
i know il probably end up buying all three of them, but as i dont have the financial for that right now, im gona have to pick one...the military, i guess
thanks

The Millie is so slim, lightweight, and such a high-performance slicer, that I find it almost impossible not to fall in love with it.

But true, it is not a sharpenned prybar... that's the reason I always carry an Atwood Prybaby (also in S30V) as a perfect match to my Millie.

Chinook or Manix may be more "abusable", but that comes at the expense of bulk and weight, both of which are a consideration to IWB carry.

Why not going for something a bit more simple and affordable (replaceable), like an Endura Wave? Great looks, solid performer, fast as hell, and you won't grieve for any damage done. Plus, if it's going to be a user, VG-10 is easier to resharpen than S30V.

I have two Enduras (Wave and CE), one Delica (SE) and one Millie (PE), plus four Benchmades. The Military get's carried more often.

Take a look at the "Manix". I have a "Millie" and although its an oustanding slicer, its tip is a bit thin and fragile for my likes.,,,VWB.

i have a full serrated endura frn, not waved, i'l look into that to
i thought of the manix, but the chinook has that appealing blade, even if it aint for IWB carry
well, hard choice :D
as always, one knife its never enough, and it never ends...
i like it :D

If you really want the Millie to become better let STR turn it into a framelock! It is AWESOME! GOOD LUCK! Kevin:D

I like the Spyderco mcf S90V because for me its purely a defensive weapon. I carry it for nothing else. I have that baby stropped to an edge that disembowel an attacker in one stroke. I like that thin blade. Gives it less resistance when cutting. And I put a triple bevel on it before I started stropping, so the edge will last for freaking ever, should I ever need it too....
