From looking at this Mule, I take it that it is not a standard Mule release? Maybe a special for Woodcraft???

Has anyone bought it and had experience with it?

I cannot say that I've ever seen it before. Where did the picture come from?
Based on the postion of the Spyder, I'd be inclined to call FAKE on it. The Spyder is always on the left of the hole.

That is NOT a mule team and most likely a fake.

It is real, it is made by Spyderco exclusively for Woodcraft as a kit blade. As I recall, it is a tad pricey for a saber grind S30V blade. There was a thread about it some time ago on the factory forum. When they first introduced it, the catalog said it was S90V, but Kristi assured us it was S30V.

interesting.
I thought woodcraft was for bushcrafters
and saber hollow grinds would be an heresy for
them ?
Beautiful mule blade BTW !

You know that is a very interesting point. I looked at my blade and you are right, it is on the left hand of the hole. I wonder why the stock photo has it the other way?

Weird

The Woodcraft being referred to is a woodworking store here in the US. They sell tools, hardware, lumber, and other supplies. The link listed earlier will take you to their website.

I wonder if Spyderco hollow ground these to differentiate them from the regular mules or if it was because Woodcraft requested it.

Indeed, that is the one detail I always look for. It's a nice blade though. I guess that picture could be of a prototype maybe?

Yes. ;)

Woodcraft wanted a kit knife blade after the Mule Team knives were released. Since the Mule Teams are sold direct to the ELU for wholesale price, they needed something different enough to be obvious. I suspect they elected hollow saber grind to keep cost down since they want to sell them at a profit.

I bought two. I figured no set of Mule Teams would be complete without it. They come in a shrink wrap on a cardboard Spyderco backer card (red and black of course). So no box, but definitely not a fake.
