I am seriously considering getting one of these two knives. However, it seems that they both are pin constructed. I want the lighter weight these models offer but am concerned about not being able to open up the knifes as both of there locking mechanisms can get very gunked up with use. I need some advice. How do you keep you knives clean with thenpin construction or do you just always opt out of pin construction and go for the g10 (which I an really reluctant to do)?

My native 5 FRN has just 1 pin (for the lock lever) and then is held together with torx screws, so you might be mistaken on that. Also, I have yet to clean it since it is so well put together that there really isn't any gunk getting anywhere and I've carried it for months.

So it is possible to take the native 5 frn apart?

Looking at prices it may be a good idea for me to get a g10 s30v manix 2. I have done a little reading into s35v and it doesn't look like it is that much better than s30v and the manix 2 seems like a much cooler knife.

good call.
The G10/steel spydercos are just fantastic. The lightweight versions feel like toys to me, as good as they may be.

Yes I totally agree. I have not handled the bigger lighweights without liners but I own an frn dragonfly and when I first opened the box I thought that it did not look or feel worth the price I have paid. It has now found a spot in my rotation and it's lighweight is the reason it fits in. I just felt that if the manix 2 was going to be that big it better have the handle that wouldn't break and the extra 1.9 ounces won't make that big of a difference
