spyderco native from walmart

There were some early ones made under subcontract or something that were being heavily discounted by some dealer in surplus supply or whatever and these had problems. I have never heard of an actual Spyderco production model from their Golden, CO, factory that has had regular problems. Like any product, they do have the occasional mistake and Spyderco has just about the best customer service out there to remedy these mistakes.

The Native from Wally-World is probably the best bang for the buck out there. I EDC one at work.

I have looked at 3 Wally Worlds in central Ohio...and they don't have it available...anyone in Ohio finding this??

Same location, same experience. Walmart seems to consider us a knife-negative zone. Could they be right?

There are no variations of the C41 as far as I know. There are older ones with different steel, different colors, black blades, but the design is exactly the same. What you get at Wal Mart is your standard plain edge, bolted on clip Native.

The Native III (C78) has a VG10 blade, a wire clip, and a "3D" handle with a bit more grip. The Native II has SS handles and an AUS10 blade.

There was also a run of Natives a long time ago made in 440A but these are different from the rest and not very nice I hear.

Thanks for the info.
From this thread it seems the Wally World C78 deal is excellent.
I have a Native C41 Spyderedge and I like it a lot. Great fit and finish, extremely sharp. Interesting design, too IMO. Spyderco just keeps doin' it.

At the walmart near the Akron / Canton airport there are Natives. It's located near portage street at The Strip shopping mall, right next to the highway. Hard to miss.

The Native at Wal-Mart is the C41PBK.

I really like the Native, and should probably go out and get another one. The only problem I've seen with the Walmart Natives is that some of the models I've checked out have blade play. Not just minimal play, but severe play. When you decide to buy one from Wallyworld, make sure you check all of them out. Not to worry though, because Spyderco has a superb customer service team, just tell them whats wrong with the knife, and they'll fix it for you, as long as it is covered under their warranty. I have seen some good models at Walmart too.

From my pov, I really like the S30V blade, super scary sharp, but I wish the handle were more like the Native III. I have heard through the grapevine that a more 3D ergonomic Native with S30V, similar to the Native III, is in the works. But, the handle is great in its own right, comfortable, just doesn't "mold" to your hand the III IMHO.

Also, for 40 bucks, you can't beat the price.

This knife is an enormous value to anyone who values a high quality tool they can depend on for EDC, utility and functionality. I purchased my first S30V Native to use as a beater/EDC when I was concerned about losing my more expensive knives. It now spends more time in my pocket than all others. I love it so much I even bought another just in case I lose the one in my pocket. Get one while you can!:D

The Native is my brother's EDC. He swears by it. I'm not too crazy about the lines but that's a matter of personal taste. Certainly a great knife for the money.

Oh, I thought the Wal Mart version was the C78.

So it turns out that the Native I have IS the model C41 sold at Wal Mart except that mine has a serrated edge.

Well, yes, it's a great knife for the money. Highly recommended.
