Just got a new project underway this morning. I like doing these as this model is one of my personal favorite Spydercos.

Should be a good one when done. Just getting ready to cut it open and start the surgery. Here are a couple of pictures of it in factory clothes before starting for reference.

Stay tuned.

i'm so happy you posted this. i have one waiting to send ya. :)

Glad to hear it. Mail it at your convenience.

I was hoping to get started on this one today but the wife had other ideas so I'll post up pics later once I get the chance to spend time in the shop again.

We've got company coming and she stuck me with clean up duties today. Yuk!

Did manage to get a slight reprieve from the wife to get this one going today afterall.

Seen here is step one, cut the knife open to remove factory parts for copy.

Step two drill out the holes to the new sizes needed in the lockbar and blade

Step three, copy the parts to the materials selected by the knife owner, which in this case is titanium and green canvas micarta.

Step four will be coming up when I drill the holes and map out the locations of the new screws next. Then to install in the spacer spring holder in the rear for a test fire of the lock up.

Need then to contact the owner of this knife to find out if a lanyard is wanted yes or no and on to the finish line sometime after that with a request for tip down carry when I'm to the pocket clip.

Also requested was that I modify the knife slightly to expose all of the opening hole for the thumb which will be relatively easy to do toward the end.

Thanks for watching.

Made it to the test fire of the lock up today. Should be finished soon unless I find something I've missed along the way.

I'll know more tomorrow when I get it together for a better fit to test it again.

Well, I made it to the test fire of the lock up and I love that but don't much care for the first set of green canvas scales. I've decided to cut those again to cover the two off angle screws rather than expose them.

Easy fix. That will be next up later on.

Oh I see. For some reason I thought you were converting this to a framelock. Don't get me wrong, it's still super cool!!

Got fairly far with this Native but I don't like the rear spacer after getting it together. Needs to be thicker and I had to order titanium to get some in the right thickness since my stock has been depleted. I'm held up on this one until it arrives from Halperns.

In the mean time I'll move on to some other projects and come back to this one once I get the materials to complete it.
Sorry for the delay Dale. I'll get to it soon as the stuff arrives.

Your D4s on the other hand went out in the mail to you as planned.

Boy this is a tough crowd! :D

I'm just too anal about details sometimes. Chances are no one would notice but I did so it won't fly. Its got to be right and this just isn't up to par.

Will be soon though.

i'm impatient because my Native is sitting in box addressed to you. :D

i want to see this one to be sure it's exactly what i want.

Well if you ask me you should get it done in bead blasted .100 titanium slab scales. Now that would be a very fitting tank of a handle. But suit yourself. I'll do it anyway you want. I'll tell you what though. Some G11 all by itself would be pretty awesome also. That stuff is so strong there is no need for metal liners at all and it looks about like a polished up precious jade stone handle when its completed. It would save you a few $ to do that also when you exclude the titanium.

Your call though.

considering the initial investment in the knife, the Ti sounds good. the G11 sounds interesting also. i looked on your website...are there any examples of G11?

The Jess Horn in G11 that was just posted here on the first page is the only one to date. I'd never had the chance to work with it until then.

Finally got the titanium I've been waiting for to remake the spring holder for this one just a few minutes ago.

I apologize for the wait but it just isn't right without this thicker stock. It shouldn't be long now. I've put all the other projects going on hold to finish this one up since technically it was ahead of all of them.

Thanks for your patience.

Now we are getting somewhere. This one won't be long to the finish line I don't think. Just need to finish it out to get it to the final shape, drill two holes on each side, thread the ti for the scale to be secured to the titanium and decide on a pocket clip and how it functions from there. Should all happen tomorrow if I have my way. This stuff came so late today that I am about fried today.

No problem, man. It's just "Christmas in July", that's all. The thumbnail looks great... can't wait to see the real thing.

I've still got one more Wally World Native. That's the one I'm thinking about getting done in some sort of metal bolsters and a higher end scale material... more of a "gent's" version of the Native.

You know you can click the thumbnails and see them larger right?

I've done bolsters but not on the Native. That would be neat though.
