Spyderco Native in green canvas and ti project

Almost done with this one. Just need to find the original note and review the clip needs and I'll knock that out next.

Here are some nicer digitals of it for you Dale.

As requested the opening hole is completely exposed now.

Looks great. I really like the cut-out around the opening hole. How does it feel in-hand? Also, how is the thickness overall?

I make them a bit thicker. Personally I feel that additional thickness is unnoticed in the pocket and only noticed in the hand by the added comfort it provides in tough cuts. Its not too much more. I love the cut out actually. I am surprised at ho much more grippy it feels compared to the original cut out.
It makes it easier to get your whole thumb in it to open it too.

STR... that one looks like it's going to be a real joy to use. I really like the cutout. The micarta looks like it will be a good match for a Chax FB I have in green canvas. They might well end up being my new pair for camping/hiking carry. I am really excited about getting to handle it.

I like my knives thicker than many people. I've never been a fan of "slim and light". When I pick up a knife I want to feel something in my hand and I want my hand to have contact with the handle all around it. I started out carrying a Buck 112 so I guess I got used to that kind of feel to a knife.

If you read this before you find the note, the clip should be right hand, tip down, if possible. I do a lot of IWB carry. RH tip up is good, too, if necessary.

Just out of curiosity, how would you compare the strength of the Native lock to the strength of the G-10 Caly 3 lock? Would you rate the Native as a hard-use knife overall?

The Native is certainly a harder use knife in the lock strength yes. The spring and lock contact on this model are the next step up from the CIII so I'd have to rate this one up with everything else bigger in their line up short of the Manix and Mini Manix lock backs.

Today when I finish it I'll make it right hand tip down for you. I don't think its going to be a low rider though. Looking at it I'm not sure I can make the bend or fold without having to make it raised up off the knife too far. The standard style will sit flatter for you. We'll see, I may change my mind.

Steve,

That looks awesome. I love how the entire hole is available to the thumb. Really nice job on that knife. The color is just perfect. I love green.

It's OK not to be a low rider. I like a bit sticking up so I have something to grab. The standard tip down position of a Delica or Endura is great for me. I can reach the pivot area with either hand and pull the knife out of my waist band.

Ok Dale, looks like you have you a made to order Native.

I'll probably use this some tonight, maybe somemore in the morning and make sure its not got any areas that need an additional tweak and if it passes my exams over the next, oh, lets say 8 to 10 hours I'll mail it home tomorrow afternoon.

If not I'll let you know and it won't be much longer.

Thanks for your patience.

That is so sweet. I've expanded and contracted those thumbnails so many times, I'm surprised they still work.

She is on the way home now my friend.

Let me know when you get it.

Very nice (as usually). Do you think you could make a linerless G-10 Native with a wireclip? I have an idea, maybe we can discuss it when your time allows. ;)
