I guess I'm aiming this at The Deacon and UK-Ken. It appears that these men have quite a bit of knowledge on the Natives. I found a Native that an individual is selling and here is part of his description: CPM440V on one side of the blade and Golden Colorado USA Earth on the other side. It does not have the Boye (?) dent in the lock and it is a PE model. Also it does not have the "numerous thumb notches" on the handle. I once saw a list of the different Native models but cannot find it now. The model number listed is C41PBK. Is this a rare one?

Thanks Maverick. That is The Deacon's personal site. I've checked it many times. On his site he describes this knife but with a GIN-1 steel blade. This one has the CPM440V steel but without the Boye dent in the lock.

The earliest production of the 440V version of the Native did not have the Boye dent. That feature was added, fairly close to the end of the 440V era. Not rare, but not often seen for sale either since I suspect most of the earlier Natives were bought by folks who actually use them. Nice find, congrats!

Thanks for the replies. Still looking for that list of variations. I think I copied it to a spreadsheet program. If I find it I'll let you know. Maybe you can look it over and see if there are any errors or ommissions.
