Spyderco Native versus BM Pika

bh49,
You're right, S30V is thought to be superior to 440C in lots of ways.
I guess I'd forgotten that the Native is now (almost?) exclusively produced with S30V, as opposed to the earlier versions and their various other steels.
Personally, although I like S30V quite a bit , I find that Benchmade does an excellent job with 440C, and it's quite adequate for my needs.

i got both of the knives and i couldnt choose from the two.

the native is s30v which is good but benchmade 440c is very usable and a snap to bring the edge back. i know its hard to believe but ive brought my pika to shaving sharp on the bottom of a coffee mug.

the pika is slim and low ride. very unobtrusive
and its halfway disassemblable (sp) for cleaning.
the native feels good in hand.

native is made in golden, CO
pika is taiwaneese

the bad:
the native has a riveted pivot. i gotta try out like 4 everytime before i find one tight enough.

the pika has got a tough backspring. more dificult to open. (either that or its the length of the lock bar, its kinda short)

for some reason, when closed, the slot is a hair small for the blade and the blade has to kind of slightly wedge itself into resting position
