I have looked hard at this knife (on the 'net, only), and think it looks like possibly a good knife. It's purpose would be as a semi-pocketable (or clipped IWB) general utility. Plain blade.

Thanks for any info.

Great knife, soon to be made better by the 440V steel. I love mine and have given several to kids that have made Eagle Scout. Great utility blade shape, holds an edge okay, great style.

Dennis,

You're not alone in being anxious for this one. It should be a real keeper for sure!

On my limited budget I'm still getting at least 2 of these.

When reserving the bladeforums G10 Native are acknowledgements of receipt of the request being emailed back?

Yes, I received an acknowledgement from Spark saying my name had been added to the advance reservation list.

Bob Irons - Thanks for the response.

Spark - Never mind, you did send acknowledgement. Sorry about that, time I clean my mailbox up....

Thank you, to the Spyderco Chief Engineer. I know now to wait until the Native comes out late summer to buy mine. I CAN'T WAIT

A Native in blue G-10 and CPM440V would be a truly wondrous thing, and I have SERIOUSLY toyed with the idea of reserving one. However, I can't commit to buying one when I have NO IDEA, even a clue, what the bottom line on the order invoice is going to be. For all I know it could range from ~$60 (the lowest I have seen a G-2 Native, I think) to more than $200 or $250. I would LOVE to have a collector Native, but there's a limit to how much I will pay. And the notices that I have seen explicitly say there is no idea at this time about the final cost.

The most important thing to me is that the knife be a good, usable, cutting knife, that will hold an edge. That will be fulfilled with the one coming out in late summer. I don't want to reserve the special Native when someone that definitely wants one and can afford it will.

Sorry if this sounds defensive, I tried my best to keep it from that. And if you read back, you will probably see some "sour grapes"

Hey Outlaw - Here's a reply from Sal to another forum member concerning the cost of the BF Native:

"Copfish - can't determine a price yet, need to go through engineering first. My guess is over $40 and under $75. Not much help, sorry.
sal"

I bought my GIN-1 Native NIB from a local dealer for $39, so Sal's estimate sounds about right. Probably closer to the top end though. I wouldn't wait too long to reserve one! Hope this info helps.

If the special native is in the upper end of the estimate, around $75, I still think it's worth it. I handle some of Sypderco's mid range knifes like the Goddard and Wegner which I like. But the improved materials of the special Native would put it right up there with those if not a little higher. Of course, this is subjective and based on what I want and like in and the usage I intend for a knife.

Kelly,

Good to see you on this forum. My possible move to Charlotte didn't happen.

Looks like we're converging on the same knife here.

Regards.

Outlaw - Great news! I thought that price might sound right to you. For the price, my GIN-1 Native is a great little working knife. Strong blade, great grip, great value. The BF knife with blue G-10 and 440V steel should be that much better. Glad you decided to get one.

Bob - I THOUGHT that name sounded familiar. I've gotten a new computer since we exchanged e-mails, consequently all of my messages were left on the old hard drive. Too bad about the move. We sure could use more knife knuts in Charlotte.
