I, too, have carried one for a while - fourteen months now. Last month, after reducing another large cardboard box to panels, I noticed the blade was warm. Under further inspection, I found it wouldn't pop hairs... gads! I got out my only other Spydie product - a Sharpmaker - and, about twenty minutes later, it was back to at least as good as new. A few days later, on my birthday, I got another one - my wife, who had shocked me with the first one as just a thank you gift for something, had secretly gotten one from the local store before I could race up there. Sadly, a friend got there before me - got the last two - I thought I was outta luck - 'til my hatchday gift. I don't know why I 'needed' a second one - but I am elated - and I am a Buck 110 kinda toter. That second one, like the first, was a real razor outta the box.
Yeah, it's come out over the last year to trim meat at a BBQ dinner at the in-laws... sad to say (Possum is stringy...). Other food duties, too. Opened and reduced lots of cartons - cut hose & belts. A bit of woodcarving - stake making, too. It was/is - like that second one - perfect. The bevel is perfectly symmetrical/even and the blade in both is perfectly centered - easily deployed, ie, no drag, and recovered with one hand - and some care. A Kershaw Ken Onion assisted opener is faster, of course, but I like the lockback on the Native better than the Kershaw's liner locks. Light enough - and small enough - for EDC - yet, what a great grab & feel - a natural fit to my medium plus size hand and very safe, too. I have a few once-EDCs that have 'bit' me - made me 'Leek' a bit, so to say. Not the Native. I am most shocked that I haven't bought any other Spydies since I am so happy with the S30V Native. If you can still find one at Wally World for $39.48 - grab it. Oh yeah, I discovered Buck's Custom Shop 110s - and Bark River fixed blades in the last year. Not much blade moola left...

PS Thankfully, that clip is easily reversed - or, in my case, just removed.
