I'm a recent convert to Spyderco. But in the last month all my users have switched over to their product line. My Daily carry is a Delica4. My Gentleman's carry is a Dragonfly. I use a Bill Moran for Camp duty and have my eye on an Aqua Salt.

I've seen the Swick and SPOT but
I was wondering if Spyderco would ever delve into the traditional looking small (2-3") fixed blade market. Other manufacturers have done it and met with success (Esee Izula, Becker Necker, Bark River Bravo, etc.).

Would ya'll be interested?

I don't think that spyderco is in the business of making traditional looking knives. i buy spyderco because they don't look traditional.

This is true, but I think he means a spyderco-designed knife with traditional funtions like a drop or clip point blade that can be used for edc tasks. Spyderco ergonomics and style.

I've handled both the RAT Izula and the Becker Necker; the Swick is far superior to any of them in every way that I can think of

I like the idea of a Fred Perrin Street beat with no scales. Would put up good competition with the rest of the market if they could put one out in a competitive price range. I'd be down for a 154CM run so it could be made here.

You could also use a Mule for this purpose. It's a fantastic design.

This is my new Spyderco neck knife. One of my new Honeybee's on my other hobby, a Titanium chainimail necklace.

speaking of spyderco neck knives, is there any chance of adding a fixed blade/neck knife to the byrd line?

We could see it. Myself, I think they have a place in their line-up for a smaller fixed blade, like a neck knife. Of course, there has been talk about a leaf shaped Swick, which would be very nice.

I think a good design to work from would be the Vagabond, use that blade, and maybe a 3-finger version of the handle shape, skeletonized... That would be good neck knife... And if they made it so that you could wrap it with cord, and still sheath it, that is a pretty popular class of knife... Good number of guys like that thing, knives like the Becker Necker, ESEE (RAT) Izula, now the Bark River Bravo Necker, the old Stiff K.I.S.S., etc...

The Swick is really, really sweet. That wharncliffe blade is incredible. Forget a leaf shaped blade. With an edge that short, I want cutting power.

I've also set up a Mule for neck carry. It carries well if you don't mind a slightly bigger knife around your neck. With a cordwrap it's quite light and thin.

Hi Marion, it's a little longer than the Swick 1 with the warncliffe. It has an S30V full flat ground leaf shape blade, built and on the shelf. 500 pcs. Swick2. We also added holes to the tang so a handle could be added, kinda like the Mule Team.
