Assuming these two have similar ergos, how do they compare regarding lock-up and fit and finish?

I would prefer to go with Spyderco, but I'm having a hard time warming up to the dirt and blood collecting, paw prints on the Ocelot. I can't imagine cleaning it after field dressing a deer. If the Ocelot was designed as a true hunting knife, why did Spyderco feel the need to add the novelty. Dang, I wish they would offer it without the prints! :grumpy:

Thanks,
Tom

I have both, and they are pretty different. I think the Pro-Hunter Lite would be a better comparison to the Ocelot than the Pro-Hunter, as both are lock-backs, they're both made in Japan, they both have hollow-ground blades, and the blade sizes are closer.

As far as the comparison between the Ocelot and the Pro-Hunter goes, the Pro-Hunter has a flat-ground, S30V blade, is made in the USA, and sports a liner-lock. The Ocelot just feels like a much smaller knife than the Pro-Hunter. Both are great knives, so good luck deciding!

Best wishes,

Tom,
Without the paw-prints (pugs), the Ocelot would be too near identical to the Pro-Hunter Lite.

Best wishes,

P.S. The lockup and the fit & finish on both the Ocelot and the Pro-Hunter are outstanding.

Thanks again 3D. I need to be able to compare them in person which is always a challenge to do.

If I were going to use it for a hunting knife I would not want the paw prints either.

I would get the Pro Hunter or the Pro Hunter Lite.
