I was watching Fox News yesterday at lunch. It was a story about drug smugglers using mini subs to bring drugs in.

The setting was aboard a U S Coast Guard cutter.

A USCG seaman was cutting open what looked to be a kilo package of white powder that had ben confiscated. The camera zoomed in and low and behold it was a SPYDERCO he was using.

It appeared to be an Atlantic SALT with a black handle. [I just assume it was a SALT because the blade was nice and shiny with no rust.......]

Sweet...............

I'm not sure if it was PE or SE.......... it took me by suprise and I forgot to look at that part..........:D

WHEW! I thought this Thread was gonna get political!!

A bit political, but more on the submarine nut side. I've been saying it for quite some time (although not on this board) that the USCG should procure a bunch of diesel electric subs. Costly, yes, but with the equipment the baddies (drug smugglers, terrorists, etc.) are picking up, port and shore security definitely needs the help. Heck, oh History Channel they had a show on Russian organized crime showing that a weapons dealer got caught trying to sell a fully manned Russian attack sub to one of the Columbian cartels. We're the only country that has subs that uses them as purely offensive (well, and fleet defense) weapons. There's great value to watching people without them knowing you're watching them...

Anyway, to steer back on topic...If I was on a midget sub, a Salt would be the knife for me!

You don't need a sub to catch a sub. It is no easier to find another sub from a sub than it would be for a boat.

I bet Spydercos are pretty popular with the coast guard. Also nothing makes a better image for the "FOX NEWS ,DRUG THUGS USE SUBS!!!" expose than some white powder on the tip of a shiny pointy knife.

Wow it is like drug smugglers are going to end up using anything that money can buy not matter how farfetched it seems. I tried to think of something that would work but would be to expensive and came up with shooting the drugs into orbit to a space station and then drop it into the US like it was a meteor. I give it 10 years before there is a
FOX NEWS ,expose on dope from orbit?

But it is easier to find a boat from a sub than to find a sub from a sub. Hard to find sonar pickets are nice things to have.

Dang, hijacked the thread again. sorry.
