Last night I was watching CSI:Las Vegas, and in one the bedrooms they were searching for possible murder weapons, when Nick opened one of the draws, there was a Spyderco Delica sitting on some clothes.

CSI:Las Vegas has used a BUNCH of big name knives, such as Busse, Buck, and now Spyderco. Anyone else see spyderco on the big screens?

And in the Miami Vice movie.... youngster pulls an Endura on Jamie Fox in a trailer.

I wish the media would quit picking high-quality, name-brand knives for their villains and miscreants. I've never heard of a stick-up kid or a crack-head committing a crime using a nice knife, and those types of images on television just serve to make the general public more likely to freak out when people like us use our knives for actual work.

It's just as easy to steal a good knife as a cheapie, but most knives used in crimes are kitchen knives. Those aren't scary enough to suit Hollywood though. They have to use something with more "screen presence", like a serrated Police.

I think they missed the first Bad Boys when they fight in the bathroom. And their is the classic flipper as well.

Yeah, I know, but that just means that folks are more likely to think about us in light of what they've seen on TV when we use our spydies (and others) in public. The average Joe Sixpack doesn't know that most knife-related crimes are committed with kitchen knives, and so whatever he sees on the idiot box is what's going to stick in his mind.

Yup. That's why switchblades have been largely illegal for the last fifty years. I don't know which is more pathetic, Hollywood for demonizing them or legislators for believing what they see on the screen is related to reality.

did anyone see "jennifer 8" with Uma Thurman it came out in 1992 the killer uses a serrated police
