Spyderco Para 2 Question

I got my new Para 2 off eBay yesterday and so far I am in love with it. I only have one question/concern. Inside of the Spyde hole is a small little notch that takes up maybe a little more than a quarter of the width of the blade. I was wondering if that is supposed to be there. I can't think of a reason why it would be so could it be a second?

Took a pic of it.

could be, but i think it's more just a standard affect of production making? i looked at my two versions a few minutes ago but i didn't measure them only eye balled them and the holes appears perfect. one has a small varience in the hole where the stamp that made it or whatever left a bit of a rough spot and a slight indentation, but hardly noticeable and has no affect on function so i don't care.

i think what you are seeing is the same thing i am seeing on mine...just an odd spot that wasn't sanded down from the stamp used to make it or the laser setup if it's cut...i have no idea how spyderco cuts that hole so i am guessing, but it sounds (without pictures to see it) pretty normal to me, and i wouldn't worry. if it loosk worse than what a reasonable standard of tolerance in production could be you could always take a picture and send it to spyderco and see what they say? just a thought.....

I believe that Spyderco marks their factory seconds with a notch on the spine of the blade.

Good to know and I have a pic up now by the way.

The notch denoting it's a second comes on the spine of the blade, not in the hole.

Your picture isn't working. You need to upload it here or to a site like imgur.com, not just post a link from your gmail account :)

Alrighty! Thanks for the info and sorry about the pic...I'm not new to the site, but I am new to posting pics on here......I'll try it on Photobucket if that's alright....

The pic is working now. As others have mentioned, it's just something that happens with the machining, not a mark denoting that it's a factory second. You should be good to go -- the Para 2 is a great knife!

Thanks!!! Now I can rest easy!!!!!

Can anyone tell me if my pic is working now?? Excuse my inexperience with picture posting on here..... All of them show up on mine so I can't tell....

Youre talking about the little mark inside the hole, right? I think its where the laser started and stopped, when cutting the hole.

isnt that just the grind from the full flat ground blade going all the way to the spine? I dont believe it is a defect at all, but just the blade grind.

please disregard my last sentence, i thought we were talking about the line ABOVE the hole, not in the hole. I have no input now...
