Spyderco Para-Military...or ?

You can't make a mistake with a paramilitary. Sharper out of box than a benchmade, strong build, light, great locking system, high tech steel, not expensive. A great great EDC

Now, I just bought a Para, and it seems fine, although I'm not a real knife expert. How can I check mine out to be sure it's okay? Are most of them okay?

I lucked out with my Para. Everything is perfect. However, I do wish Mr. Glesser would address why there are so many QC problems with the Para and if anything is being done to resolve them. I hate to see such a great knife get a bad reputation. :(

If you like that blade shape you'll love BM's 710 in D2 or 154CM (or look hard and get the M2, very sweet steel). There is noting else to compare it to without adding weight ... the only choice then is the Manix, rock solid.

Gary007,

From what I've read, the main problem with the Para has been vertical blade play. It's hit and miss. My lock is rock solid, but this problem seems to be a reoccuring issue. Others have reported a sharp tang when the knife is closed and blades that don't stay closed. Again, my tang came rounded and my blade stays closed. Also, blades being off center when closed. My blade is a little off center, but that doesn't bother me. Spyderco says that is normal, so that's good enough for me.
