if you have a para how do you like it? does the compression lock and the hump on the handle by the lanyard hole dig into your hand? and would you recomend this knife, if not what knife would you recomend in the 200$ to 300$ range

well i like mine a lot. in fact it is my EDC i dont find anything wrong with the knife's ergonomics and i like the compression lock. but if your in the $200-$300 price range you could practically get a sebenza.

I love my para. Everything about the knife just plain works perfect and its the best folding slicer I have EVER seen. I think every knife enthusiast should atleast try this knife at some point.

I personally did not really like my Para. There was vertical bladeplay present and the pivot screw kept on loosening up pretty easy. However I do have to say for some reason I trust the compression lock more than a linerlock.

The overall design of the knife is outstanding. But the quality was not very good. Perhaps, I got a factory dud. I don't doubt Spyderco knives. In my experiences they have held up to all of my extreme cutting needs and I respect them. But the Para didn't really do it for me this time.

theyre wonderful. its not hype, its the opposite. what it lacks in looks it gains in true beauty. form does follow function in the case of the para. the compression lock is super smooth btw, much smoother than the military by comparison. also, you wont have to form a callous to close it comfortably yet its stronger than a liner/lockback. i still prefer the military, though, as i am partial to 3.75-4in blades

I find the Para has a very good grip, and the compression lock is awesome. The fit and finish on both of mine are great, and no blade play at all. Now for your viewing pleasure......

I would definately recommend it, I love mine, especially now that I had STR put a tip down low rider clip on it. I have not been able to replace it yet, this probably the longest I have edc'd the same knife. I find that even though I buy and carry other knives, I can't stop carrying my para.

thanks for the info ant the pics. i must have one!:D

Took me 16 spydercos before I picked up the para. Out of the box it entered my top 3 edc rotation and has not left. lol Should have gotten it sooner. I thought the knife was very hyped and would be "good". Well out of the box and first experience with it in hand opening and closing...I was fully blown away with the over all quality and feel to the knife. Screams "use me and use me hard". haha

I just couldn't get to like mine. No problems with the quality of the knife but it never felt right - the grip just didn't fit me. Try and handle one before you buy if possible.

I love it Love it Love it. My Para is my go to knife. I have a lot of fantastic folders. Rick Hinderer's, Spyderco's, Chris Reeves, Fallkniven, Strider and Benchmades. Of them all I carry the Para the most.

I love my Para. It just does everything right. I don't understand why people say it's ugly though. I bought it because I fell in love with the look when I saw it and I had to have it. it was only later that I fell in love with the fit and performance of it.

Get one. You won't regret it.

I have had two Para's and sold off both. The knife is a great size and well built but the lock system and I never seem to connect. I am sure it was me but I needed to use both hands to close it. I always wished Spyderco made it as a lock back like the Endura. That I could deal with. Hint hint...;)

I've been collecting knives for 40+ years (mostly slippies) but when I decided to get a modern folder I waited a good while longer until the Para D2 showed up and knew it was the one. Many complain the handle/blade ratio is "weird" but to me it is very stable feeling and 3" is plenty of blade and I appreciate the large handle. The compression lock was completely foreign to me but I also found it extremely assuring and easy to use in no time. I can get it out of my pocket, flip it around a few times and back in the pocket using just the lock and one hand in a few seconds. We're all different though and have plenty of choices!

Guess you could say I like them as I have 9 of them as of last Friday I added the 9th - eh they are okasy. LOL GREAT!!!!!!!

I had one and sold it, nice enough knife, but I never warmed up to the compression lock and I wasn't too fond of the tang sticking out beyond the handle. The Military is my go to folder these days.

I don't like the handle shape. The hump on the bottom makes holding it feel cramped. I also don't like how the blade tang sticks out and the blade/handle ratio makes it look a little goofy. Still a good knife, I wish I had smaller hands :)

I love mine! Ergos work well for my midsize hands, the blade is super usable and the compression lock is my favorite of all locks. I own 10+ Spydies, some Benchmades, Kershaws and a Sebenza. The Para is the only one that I'll buy in multiple backup copies if it ever gets discontinued.

I'm a true Spyderco fanboy but I don't care for the Para. I love the compression lock but the grip has never felt comfortable to me. In fact I would have to say the Para is the singularly most uncomfortable folder I've ever owned.

I had a D2 one and sold it. I bought a FS S30V model at a good price as a platform to do some modification. The blade/handle ratio is too low for an EDC in my opinion, but if the blade were under 3" it would be a Spyderco version of the Emerson 'stubby', which has a legally small blade in a full sized grip.

I'm going to make it it tip-up with a different clip and grind the tip of the blade down to under 3" and turn it into an 'urban carry' knife for all those places I go where there is a 3" blade length limit. Since I'll be ruining any warranty or resale value when I do that I might as well re-contour the scales to my liking at the same time.

Maybe then I'll finally grow to love the Para?

For a folding knife, and 1 that really gets used hard for all types of things that folders shouldn't get used for while I'm on duty, I trust the Para more than any other folder out there.
