I am a big fan of the 5000 and 520 and have had taken part in a para passaround. I was carrieing the 5000 and the 520 for nearly two years.
Being used to the comfort and secure grip, the 5000/ 525 offers, i felt very uncomfort with the paras grip. The but ( the end of the handle) was disturbing, just one main long grip and usually you take the short grip.
So from me the Para get a -1 for ergos. I would dremel the but Military - like.
Pardue leaves it to you, how to hold the knife. Plus the stronger tip= 5000
The autofunction is pretty natural to reach. Just one move and its open in hand. Great thing.
But, you asked for the 5500. Surely the smaller one carries better, but can´t tell more about it.
I love my auto presidio (mini). One point that hasn't been mentioned is the very simple yet nearly foolproof safety on the axis autos. I like it so much, I wish they would offer it on the standard versions (all the appropriate pin holes are already there). The presidios will eat your pockets but they are extremely grippy. I have never owned a paramilitary but I traded away my full size military. I now have four presidios (mini, fullsize, auto) and am a big fan of them in every way other than their propensity to chew through the edge of your pocket over time. I also like how the auto axis knives don't have any thumbstuds. I sometimes use an edge pro to sharpen and its nice to not have them get in the way while sharpening. Both great products at different price points. You can't go wrong with either.
