I have one of the blue sprints from BBS and it came with the clip set for RH tip down carry. When I switched the clip to RH tip up carry, I couldn't get the screws to go all the way into the handle. The clip works perfectly in the other three positions. I have contacted Spyderco and they said I could send it in for warranty work but I was hoping someone might have a simple fix for this that doesn't require the blue laser to take a trip to Colorado without me!

Well there is nothing for the screws to bottom out on, so it sounds like the holes haven't been tapped properly, so yes it would be an easy fix if you have access to the correct size tap... you will have to check the size and the thread pitch I am unsure of either sorry.

Do the screws thread into the holes without the clip? I wonder if the screws are just a little too short...I realize that's very unlikely given the results in the other three positions.

The M390 PM2 is soooo nice, id carry mine with a clip, without a clip, tip up/down just because its such an amazing blade. Did you just get it-try to ask bbs if you can send it back for a replacement.

The screws won't go in the holes even without the clip so that's not the problem but thanks for the suggestion J. I'm pretty sure BBS won't do anything because their website say all sales final and if I'm going to send it somewhere, I rather it be Spyderco. I deep carry most of the time so it's not the end of the world but wouldn't you know the one position I want the clip is the only one with the problem. I'll probably send it in rather than try to tap the holes. This is an amazing sprint and I am loving the M390 steel and blue G10.

The screws are 2-56. The length of the screws may be a problem. My S30V has a screw that only catches in some holes but not in others. By shifting them around I've managed to get all three to bite. However, if the threads were never put in or the holes are too big then the only solution is to go to a bigger size screw. Unfortunately that is a lot bigger unless you could access the correct size tap for one of the Chinese metric screws like those used in the Spyderco Tenacious. These are beefy little screws and actually my favorite screws over the 2-56. If I had access to these screws, and the taps and drills in the proper sizes this is what I'd be using in everything I make. I do not know the sizing of these screws though.

The liners may not be so easy to thread at all. Don't expect to just twist right through there haphazard like. You'll twist the tapper off and break it sticking it in there but good if you are not careful. Send it in for warranty work and don't play mechanic unless you know enough to get yourself out of a jam.

Good advice, those SS liners are hard, and a #2-56 is a very very small tap, let alone the even smaller drill bit needed to drill the liners a little deeper. I put new holes in a Skyline for a deep carry clip, but would never try that on a PM2 esp. a sprint.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will send it in to Spyderco and let the experts fix the problem. I'll update when I get it back.

I had a Para2 with the same problem. Bought a tap for about $5 online. Problem solved and I'm prepared if it happens again.
