Why are so many for sale all the time? Doesn't anyone ever keep these things? I see more of them for sale than just about any other knife.

They are just that popular of knife. They are also a little on the large side. My guess is that people buy them and then find out the knife does not meet their need because of size.

A lot of people end up buying more than one as well because of all the different scales and steels available which leads them to sell the lesser loved models

So far I have bought one (wanted another in a sprint run / exclusive but missed the opportunity ). I have no intention of ever selling the one I have and it is "only" S30V.
I enjoy this size of knife or even a bit larger, up to four inch, for EDC.

So . . . good stuff, great in fact. Get at least one or two.

I don't think of the PM2 as a large knife...but it's within the size range that I like. Those that prefer smaller knives should need only to look at the specs.
The reason so many are sold is likely more a reflection on how many are purchased. It's definitely a popular knife; and there's a lot of hype over it. Many people consider (and tout) it as a knife that everybody should try. I wanted to like it; but it took me a while...I bought and sold 2 before taking the step that I thought would make the difference. I've also purchased some that I had no intention of using; and subsequently sold some of those...and I'm currently looking at a few of my Sprint and SFO versions, and thinking about selling them (please don't contact me to ask about this - if/when I decide to sell, I'll post them).

A lot of PM2s change hands - some in the course of changing tastes, some for quick funds, some because it just isn't all that.

Yeah the most common thing I see is someone saying they bought two(of the sprint ones especially), and decided later down the road they only needed one. Plus a sprint run PM2 is damn near currency on this forum so if you want/need some quick cash you can sell your M390 PM2 in a few hours.

That's why I sold one of mine today very quickly. I have three of them (S35VN, Elmax and M390) and just never warmed up to the blue G-10. Love M390, but just didn't need or want another knife that didn't thrill me. Fortunately the PM 2 isn't a risky purchase. If you don't like it, you can quickly sell it and not lose a lot of money. The sprint runs and sfo models are especially easy to resell after they sell out.

Yup. Easy buy, easy sell. Says a lot about its popularity. Probably the most hyped production blade ever.

Because they are like currency. I've sold and re-bought many PM2s as they have been a part of many grail fundraisers.

Knowing that the PM2 will survive the test of time lets me confidently sell/buy.

However, then you have the sprint-runs...
