Spyderco Paramilitary 2 vs. Benchmade 940

Trick question, and you know this because you have 940s and pm2s!....which was the correct answer to begin with. 😃

Not a big fan of the PM2, that's based on the specs only though. I'd might change my mind if I handled one, maybe.

The 943 would be my choice, that blade is very very nice.

I snap my PM2s every time I use them for work, pretty much disposable. I buy them in bulk, pull the blades, and replace the blade after each use. That way I have a nice worn-in frame and scales with a brand new blade, never have to sharpen them cuz they don't last long enough to bother.

Maybe I should start carrying my 940 more, never snapped that one, verry robust!

In all honesty, Spydies are good blades, just not for me personally.

the pm2 short blade to handle size has always bugged me. still like them though.

never cared for the 940s due to the blade shape...i see everyone else really likes it, but i dont care for it. the discontinued 943 I like due to the blade shape.
 
I have tried to like the pm2 but sold every one I bought. the blade to handke ratio isnt right and the tip is fragile. It feels a little but akward to me.

So the 940 is my choice. Which is unusual for me, I lean spyderco most of the time. I love the GB2, Manix LW and Farid K2.
 
I love Benchmade but 940 never clicked to me… Too long and narrow blade with goofy “reverse tanto” nonsense and flat grind. I love long blade but not such geometry and definitely would like to see different tip, geometry and possibly hollow grind on this one.
Love the Axis lock, don’t like handle geometry. I’m sure most people find it to be useful, good knife and it probaly is, just I don’t find anything that interest me in it. I much better like the similar shaped 950BK limited edition, even its also not my knife.
I’m not crazy about the tip of the PM2 either, but I like the ergos of this knife and I can compromise few things because of it.
‘My PM2’s are with much better aftermarket scales, so I’ll vote for PM2 :cool:
