I just ordered one off of the big auction site, so it should be here within a week? This will be my first Spidy. Anticipation setting in now.
I normally carry one of my Benchmades, ESEE (Izula II), or one of my old reliable Schrade (USA) knives.
Anyway I thought I might check one of these out since you guys speak highly of them. If any of you nice folk have any stories you want to share about these, please do.
Or just talk about this particular knife and I will listen while I wait.
Thanks. :)

I don't think you will be disappointed in the least. Great knife, great lock, and the way the heat treat is done in Golden that D2 is gonna be awesome.

Nice score, it will still be worth handling a paramilitary2 they are a bit different

Thanks guys, I can't wait to have it in hand. :)

Congrats on your first Spydie. It is a fantastic model and for me, in many ways, is better than the Para 2. Mine has lots of miles on it, but it is way smoother opening and closing than the second generations. CPM-D2 was a super-steel at the time it came out and is still one of my favorites. The edge retention is very high and it sharpens easily enough with good quality stones. I wouldn't worry about corrosion issues with the D2. Exercise a mild degree of care and it should look great for years and years to come. A bit of eye candy while you wait.

Nice catch. I'm curious as to how many of these are still out there. Is the one you got new or used? I sold one recently that was NIB just a few weeks ago, it was in absolute mint condition straight from Golden. Bought it on closeout. It was in my safe for 5 years, needed some cash. Hope you like it.

Congrats on your first Spydie.

Thanks for the eye candy. :)

The seller described it as used, but in excellent condition, including the unsharpened factory edge that he further described as very sharp. He said the only wear was on the pocket clip from carrying it.

Nice! Hadn't heard about D2 being an option on the Para 2s. I always love Spyderco's creativity!

It's a nice knife. When it was new, these were very poor sellers and were closed out at a steep discount by Spyderco.

Thanks for the info guys, I'm sure I will like it. :)
can i have it? :)
I'll think about that, really, I will. ;)

It's actually CPM D2, which is supposed to be an improvement over standard D2. Like some of the guys mention, it's not the Paramilitary 2, but rather the original (?) Paramilitary.
The more I hear about it, the more I anticipate it's arrival.

It is a very nice knife. Still have mine NIB. Fondled it a bit, but preferred to carry my PE black bladed Para. Both open super smooth, and I prefer the smaller blade of the Para 1 to the larger Para 2.

Enjoy your new knife.

John

Congrats! CPM D2 Para 1 is always a joy to have! I find it more pocketable than the Para 2's...

Well... Tell us what you think!
So far I like it, but it's early yet.
The first thing I did was sharpen it. The sellers idea of sharp was apparently different than mine, but that was no big deal.
It is definitely different from my Benchmades, so I will slow down when deploying the blade until I get used to it. Don't want to get cut (again) you know. ;)
I think I'll keep it. :)

I've been carrying it now almost every day since I got it. It's a real handy size for EDC.
