my brother had his Native sharpened by some neanderthal, aand he ruined the blade. Anyone know of a source? Spyderco doesn’t sell blades.

Thanks.

I think he is out of luck on that one unfortunately. If you were to find one you could probably buy a whole new native for the cost honestly.

It should cost about $25 plus shipping to send the knife to Spyderco to try to "resharpen" it (call them for an exact quote) but it will cost you at least $80-100 to buy a new one on the Net (or maybe less here on the Exchange), depending on what features you want.

Seems to me the best bet would be to just send it to Spyderco. Here's a link to their warranty & repair service webpage: https://www.spyderco.com/service-support/warranty-repair/

I've read elsewhere that if they don't think they can fix it, they'll just send it back to you but, if they can fix it, I understand that they do very good work. Call them to discuss what needs to be done and what the charges will be if they can or cannot do the work.

Good luck!

Thanks, guys. I live just down the road from Spyderco, and plan on seeing what they can do with it later this week. I have already spoken to them on the phone, and got the info that they don’t sell blades. I thought someone might know of a Spyderco graveyard. Long shot, I know. Thanks for the replies.

Can you please post a picture of the blade?

My brother lives in Dallas, and is mailing me the knife. I’ll post a pic when I get it. In short, it looks like whoever sharpened it used a grinder or something, and destroyed the profile of the blade.

Here’s the Native. I don’t know what the guy sharpened it with, but you can see the contour is off. Maybe Spyderco can work some magic on it. We’ll see.

I know this is probably not too helpful but this can be seen as an opportunity to purchase a nice sprint run Paramilitary or the Military knife in an exotic blade steel.

Yeah, I don’t either, really, but it’s worth a try. I’ve told my brother that he should stay away from gunshow knife butchers.

I’ll post what Spyderco says when I get the knife to them.

Other than replacing the blade I dont see how Spyderco can fix it. I would just use it as is.

I took the knife to Spyderco today, and as we surmised, the blade is too far gone to re-profile. They did sharpen the blade and installed a clip at no charge, which I thought was nice, but overall it looks like my brother will be looking for a new Native.
