Spyderco parts?

Did that start out as a saber grind knife or was it a FFG that somebody tried to turn into a saber? Either way, it looks like they added a swedge to the front o the blade. If it will sharpen it should be fine, unless they ruined the heat treat as well.
 
It started life as a saber grind, the neanderthal just ruined the blade profile, is all. It’s still a usable knife, just not what it once was.
 
If this was a pro and it was sent in for sharpening your brother should demand that he replace this with a new one.
