Spyderco PM2 Tanto?

I heard of wharncliffe and wave prototype shown during last year blade show. I hope Spyderco doesn’t make these as exclusive as well.
 
Considering this is an exclusive, it'll prob depend on whether the vendor(BladeHQ) order more.
I wonder if spyderco is going to release new models as exclusives going forward. BladeOps just announced the exclusive PM2 Wave...

Somewhere on Spyderco forums someone mention wharnie was displayed as prototype along with tanto and wave during bladeshow last year. Now that tanto and wave versions are announced, i think it makes sense we’ll see the wharnie also. Probably gonna be another exclusive based on how Spyderco conducts their business in recent years.
 
Just read this was a blade hq exclusive only. Is this like the Ritter hogue is to knife works were it’s kept in stock or is this a one and done?
 
Starting to get pissed at spyderco. This knife was announced by Eric what a year ago? When he announced it I don't recall him saying it was going to be a BHQ exclusive! Many of us have been waiting patiently, dreaming of adding this one to our collection. Now after waiting a year we find out it's a sprint or exclusive (not even sure wth the difference is) that will probably sell out in five minutes. Some of us have jobs that don't even allow us to have our phones on us except during breaks! (Welder at a large automotive related heat treat plant.) So now it's just forget it after a year long wait or try to buy one at a huge markup on the secondary market! I'm well aware spyderco can do whatever they like and I'm sure this is what must make the most financial sense for them. It guess it would be nice to know from the get go, Mike don't even think about it, it's one of those five minute sprint runs, you don't have a chance!

Don’t blame you there. I think Spyderco is one of the worst offenders of sprints and exclusives. super desirable configurations only limited runs doesn’t set well. I’m waiting on the shaman with Z wear and micarta. The shot show interview made it seem like this was going to be a new configuration that was going to be widely available.
 
When the PM2 Tanto was originally revealed, it was done in the context of it being a BladeHQ exclusive. There have been threads about that subject.

The popularity of this PM2 Tanto will likely be the deciding factor on whether or not we see more. I suspect that we'll see an option without DLC, especially since that's what was officially teased.

Where did you see or read this? First time I saw anything more than a rumor of a PM2 tanto was on the blade show interview with Eric! He showed a prototype, talked all about it made it sound like it was going to be out soon, but never mentioned a BHQ exclusive! So please show me where I missed it?

There will probably be a satin version and I imagine other versions if it sells well. BHQ will never be forthcoming about how many are being made, future runs, versions, etc. They do what's best for marketing.

The reason why I said that it was presented in the context of being a BladeHQ exclusive is because it was featured and talked about only during the BladeHQ interview. It was not discussed anywhere else.

Its unclear why information has been scarce.
 
Someone on the spyderco forums said bladehq posted there will be more on their Instagram. So it looks like another run or maybe this was just part of the batch.

Managed to snag one. If it doesn’t float my boat I’ll be listing it on the exchange but if you’re interested I’ll give you a holler first?
 
I was interested until I saw the price:eek:Especially with that blade steel.
S30v is a good Steel but not at a premium steel price even if it is a Tanto. They should of left it stone washed to make cost less. Folks will be buying this one though unfortunately so can’t blame BHQ for rolling with it.
I’m out on this one :thumbsup:
