I'm relatively new to quality knives. I've never took one apart and my question is, is it a bad idea to take my police 3 apart for cleaning and light polishing. It's smooth but it has a couple spots where it has a hint of drag. I just think it could be better

It will void spyderco's warranty, but warranties have never stopped me from tinkering with things. The only thing to take into consideration is that it is a backlock/midlock and some people have had problems getting backlocks/midlocks back together properly. It can be accomplished, but if you've never done it before it might give you a headache. Good luck.

This a video for a delica. It may help.
