I love reading those stories of hows every cop in America had a spyderco police in the 90s. I want the SS version with the SE. How's the lock up on these knives?

The Spyderco police SS and the new G10 have a very strong lockup. I trust the back/mid lock Spydercos over many years of use with many different models.

No doubt...

Once you get in the SpyderHole, there's no way to get out. Caught in a Spyder's web. ;)

And the Native is a great knife...economical, American made, S30V lockback. You can hardly beat it.

Native got me hooked as well, although I only have a Tenacious and a D4, but looking to expand into the H1 line up.

Sorry for the OT, OP!

I've heard of the Endura, and Delica 4s having blade play.

I have heard of the same on occasion, however the reported incidents are quite infrequent.

FWIW, of all of my Spydies and Byrds, I have yet to see blade play in any of them.

There's no such thing as a Spyderco with a bad lockup.

I have no doubt that it can happen, as it could happen with anything mass produced, but I have owned Spydercos since they first offered knives and I've never owned one, or seen one, that didn't lock up as intended.

I bought my stainless Police new about seven years ago, and carried it almost exclusively for five years. I opened it countless times, snapped, flicked, Spyder-dropped. Used the hell out of it, sharpened it, and used the hell out of it some more. I dug in the dirt, stabbed, poked, and dropped the knife more times than I'd care to admit. In my youthful ignorance, I even threw it a couple of times (Thou shalt never throw thy knife!)

Through all that, the knife has developed a vanishingly small amount of blade play, but it still locks up tighter than any other brand of lockback folder I've owned (some of my other Spydercos lock up tighter. Manix and Police 3, for instance.)
