Linux runs a majority of the internet, and every company I've worked for. It is very much alive and well.

To try to steer to at least a veneer of on-topic-ness, I will say the price hikes over the last year have impacted my acquisitions. I am spending slightly less overall, but mainly not buying cheaper knives. I think what happened is mentally, the delta looks bigger on impulse buys, so I've stopped in preference of saving up for significantly nicer things, I guess where the price hike is less noticeable. Human psychology around money can be odd.

I am not complaining about the OS, it just has been around for a long time.

As for the price increases, I ordered an Insingo Magnacut Sebenza shortly after CRK announced them. I think there have been 2 price increases since I ordered it. That is hard to swallow but it’s not like there are a lot of comparable knives so I will wait and expect at least one more price increase before I get my hands on it.

Wait, what? The knife wasn't locked in at the price you ordered it at?

yep. I got a crk zaan on order for about a year or so now and they don't lock the prices in. got an email that said as much when they did their increases few months ago.....

they don't collect the money upfront either though.

I would just check to see if one of their dealers has the CRK you are looking for. I found one online at a west coast vendor that had what I wanted. Had it in two days.

I have searched and will continue to do so but the combination of Magnacut and Insingo seems to be exceedingly rare.

An order should be an order, though. However, this is good info, now I know never to order from them. I don't need that hassle. I don't care what the price is when I want something, but if you give me a price and we make the deal, that better be the price. I don't put up with this from custom makers, I sure wouldn't put up with it from CRK. Oh Chris, how we miss you.

agree. I was kinda annoyed when I got the email...but is what it is. it's the last one I'll order with that policy in place....
 
I think the yearly price increases wouldn’t be SO bad, but the prices ALSO increase during the year sometimes just for the hell of it, at least the past few years (looking at you ZT, and others…. but I still buy them, just on the secondary a bit more often, instead of brand new always)…
Hinderer has been good with not doing this I will say, they’ve mostly been $425 for years, not bad (despite receiving updates)
Edit: that BS above is why I don’t like to pre-order knives, I want to get it right away, but I’m impatient lol
