Spyderco prototype videos from the IWA show

Last Friday, the IWA show in Germany started and I received special permission from Sal and crew to shoot and post some footage of the new production prototype models. Spydercrew-member Jurphaas was kind enough to present a few of the production prototypes to me. I first posted these on the Spyderco forums, but I just finished editing and uploading the last one, so I figured spyderknuts on the other Spyderco forums would like to see these clips too. I can't seem to embed the clips from youtube into this post, so go here to see all the clips on one page.

Also, the youtube links say that the videos are no longer available. At least thats what I'm getting.

Ah, I missed that thread. All videos are working OK on my end, perhaps it's a temporary errror of some sort. I'll keep an eye on it.

I saved the best for last, the Manix II. Eric Glesser was kind enough to let me film him as he walked me through all of the various design features.

I must say it's going to be one heck of a year for us Spydernuts!
Both Stretch II FRN models are on my want list now. They're going to sell like hotcakes!
 
Nice videos, thanks... Thought I saw the Leafstorm proto at Blade '08. I would really like to see that one get into production!

I was wondering about that too. Maybe because it's 154cm? The Manix 2 is made in Golden, right?
I do like the fact that it has jimping all the way around. That sure is different for Spyderco. Can't wait to hold one.:)
 
I'm going to be broke when these come out. I really like that Leafstorm and FRN Stretch.
I'm a little mixed on the Manix 93mm...I like the ball bearing lock, and I like the thinner handle (something I recall noting in a comparison review of the mini Manix), but I really prefer full flat ground blades. Eric mentioned that the one shown was a 154CM/G10 model, so I'm hoping there's a flat ground version :D
 
FRN Stretch in ZDP-189? YES! At first, I thought the FRN Stretch was only going to be made in VG-10. So I was kinda bummed after the first video, thinking, "Maybe I can buy a Stretch CF and swap blades..." But then I click "Play" on the next video, and my dream came true!

The C93 Manix looks sweet as well. I wish it were flat-ground, though. 154CM is OK, although I would have preferred S30V or better yet, CPM-D2.

Darn, looks like I have to buy at least 2 knives this year. Although I'm very much looking forward to it ;)

The FRN Stretch 2 looks like a very nice knife that should go for a very fair price. The Chokwe looks like a tremendous cutter.

OMG..Spyderco is gonna make me go broke in the coming year! I can honestly say I wanted just about every single one of those!
