Spyderco Quality Control Declining?

My zdp ladybug of two years is experiencing lock failure. :( it's still useable but no longer safe. May partly be my fault. Often neglected, i use it as a keyholder for my motorcycle so it gets rained on and battered often. However, my older delicas and enduras work just fine.

Spyderco fan here.
I own 7 spyders, they have all come perfect.
Except a exclusive that I am in the process of returning a second time for a uncentered blade.

I don't believe this represents a downfall in qc necessarily.
It's a very frustrating process to deal with, there is no denying that.

Spyderco is still about the only knives that draw my attention.

I was never impressed with spyderco, no idea what the appeal is. Seems like a folder-junkie brand. Don't like their knives, don't like the steel they use and definitely hate their sharpening systems. But to each their own. Kinda the Cold Steel of the folder world- it'll work, for a while

I'm curious which steels you'd like to see them use.

So you've owned a bunch of them?

I bought a bunch and got rid of them pretty quick after being unimpressed, yes. Spyderco is the reason I no longer carry folders.
Well reality doesn't seem to bear out your opinion but you can definitely keep it. No one is ever forced to buy a particular brand or type of knives.

Not really sure why you felt the need to bother, but enjoy that trolling...reality doesn't serve you

I’d say your first post is the only trolling going on here. This is a thread about Spyderco’s quality control, not your personal and completely subjective dislikes.

I have a small collection of Spyderco slipjoints from the time I lived in a jurisdiction that banned locking knives (and blades longer than 3"). The three UKPKs (bought over a period of years) had great quality control: the first had FRN scales and BD1 steel, the next had FRN with S110V and the last had G10 scales and S30V. The backspring and half-stop on the G10 version (a dealer exclusive) were particularly robust, and the S110V version has been a champion cardboard slayer. Years later I picked up a Roadie out of curiosity and it was just as good: perfectly centered blade, usably sharp out of the box and good overall fit and finish.
