Hate to revive an old thread but: I was still grieving my purchase of the Resilience a fine, large Spyderco that they're almost giving away.
In My Spyderco QC original thread I was aggravated about it and a Military I received. The Millie was substituted for a perfect specimen and I had resigned myself to live with the Resilience due to the low cost and wanting to avoid further costs in shipping etc.
I have taken that knife apart so many times - changing the washer array, tightening the spine screws in different order, using the matchbook shim trick but nothing would get the blade off the liner.
I had a burst of energy and "I'll fix it or break it tonight" attitude. I used my old buddy hoopster's trick of bending the liners. At least that's what I think happened.
I loosened the screws everywhere and figured out which way to bend the knife in order to possibly center the blade and went for it.
I put it point down into the floor and got a piece of hardwood for the handle and stepped into the pivot area with my heel lightly and bounced. Tightened it up a bit and it was 1/2 way centered.
Loosened the screws again and repeated 2 more times until perfectly centered and slowly tightened everything up and low and behold a dead centered blade on my big old Resilience! Loosened things up and lock-tited everything but the pivot down snug.
All is well with me and Spyderco now, razor sharp centered blades on all of them! Kudos to hoopster for the tip - nothing ventured, nothing gained man!
