Spyderco Rescue

I just got a Spyderco Rescue. I think it is either a rip-off, a new model or an old model. I checked it out at their webpage and it is supposed to have a metal pocket clip-this one is plastic. It is supposed to have an ATS-55 blade - this one is AUS-8. Any ideas?

Sounds like you got an old one. Where did you get it from? If it was a reputable online dealer, they`ll most likely take it back if you`re not happy.

I personally like the AUS 8 blades that come out of Spyderco, but I`d rather have the metal clip.

I acutally got it from an online auction at a good price. I'm considering cutting off the plasit clip, drilling and tapping holes and screwing in a metal pocket clip. My only hurdle is buying of figuring out how to make one.

You may want to check with Spyderco customer service. They may modify it for you, or at least get you the new clip. I personally liked the plastic clips just fine and never had any trouble out of them.

Good idea, i just called them and they said if I ship the the knife and $10, that they will cut off the plastic clip, put on a metal clip, respharpen the knife, recondion it, and send it back to me. I'm impressed!
