Spyderco Reveal 19

Mantra 4 looks like an absolute gem in terms of design, and I have never had a problem with 8Cr13MoV.

I like the design of the G10 Mantra 4 (8Cr13Mov & Liner Lock) too but it obviously is of lesser quality than the Ti Mantra 1-2 (M4 & RIL) & CF/G10 Mantra 3 (S30V & Compression Lock) in terms of its construction & the materials used.

The lower quality of the Mantra 4 is reflected in its anticipated pricing which BHQ & KC list both the DLC & CF versions at $95 MSRP/$90 MAP & the White G10 version at $90 MSRP/$67.50 MAP.

I don't have a problem "per se" with 8Cr13Mov steel either. I own quite a few knives (mostly Kershaws & CRKTs) that use it but the comparison being made here is with the prior versions of the Mantra & frankly the Mantra 4 does not measure up to them.

So, unless they come out with a later Sprint (or other) variation of the Mantra 4 that compares better with the Mantra 1-3, I won't be adding it to my Mantra collection. 🤷

BTW, even though I prefer larger knives in the 3.75-4" range, there is quite a variety of smaller knives in my Spyderco collection beyond the Mantras.
