Hey guys if I used royal blue rit dye on black PM2 scales, would it go dark blue or stay black? Because on camo ones the dark spots get dark blue so just to see what you guys think and if so, powder or liquid it dye? and HOW, how would I dye them.

You can only dye darker. Once you hit black, that's it.

Powder and liquid work equally well. The key is to have a completely dispersed solution before adding the object to be dyed.

Several YT vids on dyeing Spydercos. Here's one with a very nice and unique result ...

If you dye black any color it will still be black. You can only dye lighter colors to something different or darker.

Ok thank you very much I might get a set of camo scales so do you recommend any special technique or liquid or powder?

I used powdered. I don't think it matters. Because you're going to add water to the powder to make a liquid.

I simmered my on the stove for an hour or so. You want the water as hot as you can get it without the water boiling.

I didn't take the knife apart. I just tied it off with weed wacker line and a wooden spoon so the knife wouldn't sit on the bottom.
