I used to sail a fair bit and was crew on a tall ship one summer when I was a bit younger. I own the Rock Salt and I think it is an incredible blade. I really love it and it is probably my favourite fixed blade.
That said, for a rigging knife, I think there are better choices. My pick is a Waved Rescue; it opens up in a hurry, is lightweight with good ergos and has a nice sheepsfoot blade. This might not seem that important but all you need is one spill on a deck that is pitching and rolling all over the place to do some serious harm to yourself or someone else. An Atlantic or Saver Salt is a good option as well if you are set on H1 steel. I like the looks of the Mariner an awful lot, but I could have two Atlantic Salts for the same price and the shackle wrench isn't worth double the price, to me anyway. Good luck with whatever you choose!
