I bought a Spyderco Rookie at New Graham a while back and I really like this knife. I am curious as to why I almost never hear anything about this knife. For those that don't know, it is basically a scaled down version of the Spyderco Police. It has a G10 handle, VG-10 blade and it just beautiful. It is also very slim. Here's a pic of mine as well as a pic of it beside one of my Kershaw Blurs to show how thin it is.

One possibility is that since it is a Sprint Run, there aren't all that many of them in use. I suspect most of them got safe queened. Too bad, too. I have one of the originals, and it is a great little knife. More blade than the Delica in a slightly smaller package.

Another possibility is that some folks are letting their dislike of Foliage Green put them off, so they are missing out on a great little user.

i had one, and loved everything about it, except the size.

fg g10: good.
tip down: good.
vg10: good enough.
lockback: ive learned to like them.

i just dont have a place/need for a tiny folder. if i did, the rookie would be the one.

How tiny is tiny? I've heard a few things about the rookie, and always wondered if it was Delica size or Endura size.

Here's all the specs...

Blade Length: 3 in. (76 mm)
Closed Lenght: 3 3/4 in. (95mm)
Overall Length: 6 3/4 in. (171mm)
Cutting Edge: 2 11/16 in. (68mm)
Blade Thickness: 3/32 in. (2.5mm)
Blade Steel: VG-10
Handle Material: Foliage Green G-10
Weight: 2.2 oz. (63g)

They are on clearance right now so this would be a good time to grab one. It was a sprint run so when they are gone, they are gone until next time.

The blade is a bit longer than the Delica, but the handle is a bit shorter. More blade, less handle. It fits as much blade into the handle as possible.

blade to handle ratio is excellent.

however, the rookie is much narrower in the hand than other knives with a comparable blade length.
