Spyderco Sage 1 or Benchmade 707 Sequel or...?

I have small-to-medium sized hands; which do you think will be the better fit?

I have similar sized hands and own the Sage 2 and 3, and think you'd be fine with the Sage 1. Also, as SwimmingBird mentioned the Chaparral is a really nice-looking knife as well, there's a thread in the Spyderco forum about it with pics. I'm going to break my knife budget for the year and get a Sage 1 or Chaparral next.

I had both the caly 3 and the Sage 1 and I kept the Sage, I liked the cabon fiber of the Sage 1 to that of the Caly 3. The Sage 1 is a great knife!

Don't mean to resurrect an ancient thread, but I wanted to share that I am now the proud owner of a Sage 1. I haven't used it to cut anything other than scrap paper yet, but so far this thing is amazing. F&F, feeling in-hand, looks... all perfect for me.

Thanks again everyone for all your input! :D

I'm thinking about getting a Sage 1, so this thread has been helpful.

The Sage has better blade steel, IMO better handle material, and some of the very best production quality in existence in the knife world today. The average Sage 1 is so consistent, there is so little variation, it's extremely impressive. If you want a super sharp, smooth opening, solidly built knife made from premium materials for under $100, you want the Sage 1.

I recently got the 707 as my "gentleman's folder". Pics make it look bigger than it is.. if you've ever held a mini-griptillian, they are the same size (pretty small). Having said that, it's exactly what I was looking for.. a small folder that is built excellent. I take the clips off both my mini-grip and 707 and just toss them in my pocket as I don't want a clip haning out of my dress pants. To the Sage.. I don't have a Sage 1 but had the Sage 2 Ti version. It was a nice blade but heavy and wide. It has a thin profile but wide from spine to belly of the blade... probably twice as wide as the 707. The construction on both are fantastic. I ended up selling the Sage b/c of the width in the pocket and weight. I'll probably get a Sage 1 when places get them back in stock as they always seem to be out (which says something).

So really comes down to comfort and size.

I don't have the sage (and am admittedly biased against spydercos, just don't like the way most of them look), but I have to vote for the 707. It is the definition of dress knife in my opinion.

I've got a BM 707, its a great knife and started out as my EDC.. Problem is that its been replaced by a cheaper spyderco delica ffg. The axis lock is cool, and useful, but my knife after about 10 opening and closings starts to gets lose, and requires me to adjust the pivot way to often.. Now its more like my "safe queen".. I will not argue tho, that knife is one sexy mofo... Since you wont be EDCing it every day, but as part of a rotation, I say get the BM 707.. But the Sage is also a great knife aswell.. We're talkin paradox
