Sage 2 that a previous owner did some light sanding on the handles, more so on the front or (non-locking side). It may have had some anodizing at some point...don't know. The handles do have scratch marks, but the blade looks brand new with no scratches that I can see. Blade has smooth action and sits dead center with good detent. FULL DISCLOSURE... The blade has a very very slight amount of vertical play if forced with a firm grip. Not noticeable with normal use. I would not have noticed it if the guy I bought it from hadn't mentioned it...(reflected in the price). If it had a lanyard hole I'd keep it:grumpy: No box
