Spyderco Salt Opinions

Like hundreds (thousands?) of other people who used to be primarily users of bigger, heavier knives, I recently got a Salt I and am loving it. Light, sturdy, smooth, well-built, thin and handy. I don't know why I didn't get one of them years ago. One tip: I loosened up the pivot screw on mine to make it easier to flick open and Spidy drop the blade, and I enjoy it even more after doing so. Wonderful knife, and I'd like to get a Pacific Salt next.

I have used a Pacific Salt SE for years in marine environments and can't think of a better knife for most related purposes. I had a PE but switched because the SE cuts line and bait, etc, much easier. Doesn't really stay "sharper" but cuts tougher materials longer without having to touch it up. A smaller PE Salt might be better for general edc, but the bigger SE blade is better as a hard work knife. Don't get a hawksbill blade unless you're just going to cut line or nets or whatever. They look cool but are not very versatile.
