colubrid, come on now that's no way to treat your close friends here on the forums!!
We NEED a "better" shot of that last pic :D :p

I remember reading a long time ago that the Salt knives are 100% rust proof, and that all metal parts are either H1 steel or titanium.

I have 2 H1 steel knives already, I have an orange H1 ladybug, and the black on black C91...which is a little large for vacation use.
I just have to satisfy my need for the bright yellow!

I remember reading a long time ago that the Salt knives are 100% rust proof, and that all metal parts are either H1 steel or titanium.

I am not sure the rivets, or now screws, are H1 steel. The clip is titanium though. Still, I have yet to see any rust on any part of my Salt 1.

I just searched and found a few threads circa 2009 discussing the salt pins. After reading more closely, it does sound like it is something other than H-1. There were a couple comments that may have been careless in describing everything as H-1 or Ti, but nothing concrete from Sal or otherwise.

In most descriptions have have found, the pins or screws are always differentiated as being "treated specially" while the blade and clip are always described as either Ti or H-1.

If not H1, I would like to know more about it. I have taken my salt through the ocean gauntlet, and it has yet to form rust anywhere.

Isn't there stainless steel which is pretty much rust proof? I mean rust proof steel which is practically useless for knife blades, but functional for making screws out of?
