Heh, yeah that was my aunt. Before her, it was my grandfather. La Milanese was great when you were lucky enough for them to be open. My cousin swears that joint by the orange line (Mangia Fresca) has comparable breaded steak, but I don't know.

Sorry a dog had to die, that's sad.

That being said if I had to kill a dog to save mine because it was being attacked, I would. How is your buddys dog doing now? Were the injuries deep?

Your aunt i remember your grandfather it really is a small world huh Roco their son ruined La Milanese they moved back to Italy . Mangia Fresca is pretty close to the original think its like 8 bucks for a steak now to rich for my blood . I bet we know a lot of the same people didnt know there was so many Bridgeport guys here a lot of Spyderco fans . We still have Ricobenes not the same though .

German Shephards are one of my favorite dogs, so it totally sucks to hear of one being stabbed to death by a human. However, given the circumstances, I would have done the exact some thing to protect myself and my own dog.

Overall moral of the story, if you have aggressive dogs, keep them on a leash. Because the dogs' owner was careless and negligent, the dog got into a situation that it shouldn't have been in and paid the ultimate price.

Glad to hear your buddy and his dog are gonna be okay!

A pocket knife is better than nothing, and I always have one in my pocket. My wife was bitten by a large dog while walking ours a few years ago. The dog was on the leash, but the owner was a retired judge and couldn't control the animal. After that, I started carrying a stick that I carved out of Lignum vitae, pepper spray, and a knife. The 1 meter long stick will do the job, if the pepper spray doesn't. The knife is a last resort if you are dealing with vicious and dangerous dogs.
A neighbor of mine was badly mauled by a pit bull as he was saving his small schnauzer. People really need to leash their dogs.

I completely agree with keeping those dogs on a leash. I still remember from my childhood when my brother was riding his bicycle on a sidewalk, tons of children around, when a huge black dog broke loose from their owner's leash (a small girl about half the size of the dog) and ran after my brother and bit him in the leg....

It boggles my mind the parents allow a small, ten year old girl, to go out with a BEASTLY animal who she clearly has no control over in the middle of the day where other kids are playing...

Glad to hear Scooby made it and wish him a full recovery, I am an animal lover myself but has others have stated, If a dog attacked me, my family or one of my pets I wouldn't hesitate, Glad that it was the German Shepard that attacked first and not the pit, as he would of had a lot more trouble getting that pit off scooby, and he himself would of probably got hurt, not bashing the breed at all It's the owners who are at fault in situations like this. Glad all is well even if a dog had to die , better the agresser, than the innocent one ON a leash just going for a walk.BTW Scooby is a beautiful pup.

People need to be responsible and put down vicious dogs. A vicious dog has no use. They are a huge liability, because you know they will eventually get out of control. There's a lot of idiots out there who think it's real bad to have a mean dog. I'll put a bullet in its head if it goes near me and then we will see how cool it is.

Man did someone really say they were surprised the guy wasn't charged over this (not suggesting he thought they should). If some unleashed dog attacked one of my two dogs I wouldn't feel bad at all for killing it and I couldn't fathom the thought that I'd get a ticket or arrested.
Just goes to show you how different the regions in this country are divided.
Here where I live the owner of the dog that attacked would not only have a dead dog but they would get fined sued and maybe even charged.
Anyway sad to see but i hope Scooby makes a fast and full recovery

Some of us live in areas where people are just itching to sue over anything. Ever hear about cases where burglars get hurt stealing people's stuff and then sue the property owners? It happens.

I love dogs, but I have been attacked multiple times.
First time... My family shared a fenced backyard with the neighbors. We had a black lab, they had a Rottweiler. I was taking my dog table scraps when the rott latched onto my hand leaving deep puncture wounds. I was 6-7. I think my dad ended up feeding that one to the gators.
Second time... My buddy and I built a fort in his backyard. His dad was an army vet so they owned a retired police dog. My buddy and I wanted to test our fort so the dad let the dog out. He couldn't get in. Well the dog was called in and we continued to play in the back. My buddy went inside to get something and the dog slipped between his legs and went straight to me. He grabbed me by the arm like he was trained to do. The dad and son both felt bad and wanted to put the dog down, but I told them no since I knew it was our fault for getting him riled up. I was 10.
Third time.... I was playing basketball in front of my house when another neighbors German Shepard jumped a 6 ft fence and attacked me. My dad pulled it off and literally threw it back over the fence. From then on there was a machete in the back yard and we carried a baseball bat in the front. I was 11.
Fourth time... I was 21. My mom had a dingo border collie mix and her boyfriend had a couple of pitbulls. I was petting on of the pits when my moms dog walked up. I stared petting her instead. Instantly the pit became jealous and attacked my moms dog. Foolishly, I kicked both dogs to no avail before reaching down. I pinned the pits head to the ground and grabbed my moms dog by the collar. I threw her back, but she snapped onto my finger as I released and tore the last joint of my middle finger off. I got the finger sewn back on.
Finally, this didn't become an attack but it was close... I was watching my 4 month old son at a friends house while my wife and her friend went shopping. They own 2 pits. I was petting one when I had to turn my attention to my son. Once again jealousy came over the pit and it started to growl. This time I reached for my cts military and slowly made my way away from the dog. I would not have hessitated to put the dog down, but thankfully it didn't come to that.
With all of that I still love dogs

Sad story indeed. On the flip side, if your friend had not been armed, he might have had to watch his dog get mauled to death right in front of him.

Killing someone else's dog will probably hurt emotionally for a while, watching your dog get mauled to death because you were unarmed will hurt for life.
