Spyderco, Sebenza and pocket clips

Pocket clips on the Byrds and Mini-Manix have a 3-screw mounting which is better, but the clip looks the same, from pictures.

The SnG is a midsize knife by Strider, a smaller version is the PT. They are what I'd recommend to you. I think you'll tear your pants pocket before you'll bend/break the clip on one of these Strider IMHO.

Sounds great. I have read a bit about the PT and it looks indestructible. Could you recommend a reliable online store with a reasonable price for the SnG?

EDIT - looking online, it appears the PT is actually the smaller one. Can someone confirm this please?

If you like it, you did OK. I did not find Benchmade's clips to be any better than Spyderco's myself. I have had both brands snag on things and bend. For what it is worth, I often end up taking the clip off and bending just the very tip down a little, which seems to help a lot with the snagging issue.

You can order a replacement clip for the Salt series Spyderco from their store or through customer service. It should fit your Native and the Salt clips are titanium. I don't know if they are any stronger than the steel ones, though.

First, yes the PT is the smaller one. Just for comparison it is a tad smaller than the small Sebenza.

As far as an online source, without qualification I can recommend bluelinegear.com. I've met Ryan in person and he is wonderful and helpful to deal with. Their service is impeccable.

Nice tip on the clip for the Salt. Titanium won't prevent the clip from catching or bending, but it should provide more flexibility, such that if you catch the clip and it bends, it should do a better job of bouncing back to its original shape. I may buy one of those salt clips.

I checked out bluelinegear.com but it looks like they're out of stock on the Striders. It must be a good shop though, because they sell the Novatac lights, which are excellent. How often do they have stock on the PT?

Thanks for all the helpful comments. I'm happy with the BM and I'm sure I'll expand my collection as time goes on.

You'll like the Osborne. Striders are very popular right now and supplies rapidly sell out as users and collectors alike pounce on their favorite. Hinderers may be even harder to find.

Blueline is a well stocked dealer for Strider, which should give you an idea of the popularity. They will get them about as soon as anybody - having ready "cash" and checking often, even as much as once a day, is sometimes the only way for some to acquire them.

I ahve found that jeans with the flat pockets mount the knife higher - which seems to catch the clip more often. Slacks pockets drop that up to 6" inches with their vertical style, and it makes a big difference for me.

The osborne clip still flares out a bit at the end but I think it will be more sturdy because its a lot shorter, so there is less leverage to bend the clip if the end catches on something. I will hope that theory holds true, we'll see.

I love the axis lock too, and how easy it is to flip open. My only concern is the spring on the lock. I just hope it doesn't wear out, or get dirt in there. I guess only time will tell.
