Was just wondering who's going to the sale in a few weeks and what are you going to be looking for.

I'm going. Not looking for anything in particular, although my girlfriend's son asked me to keep an eye out for a Civilian for him.

Man! I'd love to go. Just can't justify taking the time to drive from Oklahoma to Colorado. I've had several Spidie blems, and most of them were hard to tell where the blemish was. The exception was an original CF Cat that had really ragged CF scales.

I have a Caly 3 second that I have carried (in my rotation) for years and have never been able to tell what flaw it has. I've had other folks scrutinize it as well with the same result. I am happy that the blemish or flaw is not obvious, but the mystery of why it is a "blem" has driven me crazy.

I suspect a lot of the seconds are perfectly good knives that have been returned by excessively picky customers for defects only visible to them.

You mean you COULDN'T see that the holes drilled in the liners were over 1% the nominal tool diameter???

:D

I have a T-Mag second that was tagged "Bad CF per" with a name I don't recall now. No one I've showed the knife to has ever been able to find a problem in the carbon fiber. Sometimes it's obvious where the problem is, sometimes you really have to look hard, and sometimes you have to be the anal retentive obsessive compulsive that returned it in the first place. Going to the seconds sale and seeing all those knives being sold at a total loss makes you wonder how Spyderco manages to stay in business.

Out of all the blems I've had there was only one that I could tell that there was a problem and it was just a faded spyderco logo on the blade. I'm very excited this year because last year they didn't have one and it is a tradition that my dad and I go to every year.

I went to the last one. Waited in the cold for hours and when I made it in, there was few left I had any interest in. After 5 hrs I made it out with 1 military. I think I will pass. Good luck to all who go. People camp overnight so plan to go very early.

It was a bit nippy, wasn't it? I drove up the day before in a car with no heater just to get ready. Got in line around 5:00 a.m. and just barely made the first group in.

We normally get there around 2am and then freeze our butts off. Wish they had it in the summer time.

I'm extremely excited about this event! Had a friend at work tell me about it in the Spring of 2011 and was eagerly waiting until that November for the sale, only to find out that it was cancelled last year. Does anyone who has gone in the past have any advice or suggestions for a first-timer? Is it pretty frantic, like battling soccer moms for a Black Friday deal? How exactly does it work? Are there just piles of knives sitting around or are they separated by model and condition?

I'm thinking of going, money permitting, but by about how much lower are they selling them? is it lower than a good retailer?

I've heard of militaries going for $25. Anyone want to get me a Dodo? Wish I could go, but sadly I'm in CA.

This needs too be done online.

I've read that it was discussed, but it would take too much time to show each knife, and take a picture of the flaws, and post the knives up one by one. And SFO sells all the knives anyways, so they don't really need a broader audience. Thus me begging for someone to snag a dodo for me.
