Question about spotting seconds. I saw where grinds were put on the spine to denote seconds, but what about the clip? My P'kal has a tiny grind mark on the wire clip(don't have a digital camera) which looks kinda like the grinds for a second. The price wasn't really in line with seconds, however. Does anyone know if Warriors and Wonders here in Canada sells seconds, or is that grind mark likely something else? I'd like to find out before spending any more cash.

As far as I know, seconds are only makred by a small v-shaped notch ground in the spine behind the opening hole - not by marking the clip in any way (it would be too easy to change a clip, thereby removing the "second" marking).

Also, I think seconds are only sold at the annual SFO sale (or through the resale market) not through distributors/dealers.

From your description, it sounds like you got one with a cosmetic defect on the clip.

Cool, THAT'S a load off my mind! A cosmetic defect I can deal with, but paying top dollar for seconds would be annoying. Thanks for the speedy answer.
 
He's right, and Spyderco hasn't had a seconds sale since the P'kal was released, so there shouldn't be any in the wild to encounter ;)
 
Where do they sell the seconds? I'd love to have a few just to keep in the tool box and other places... :D

They are only sold at the factory outlet in Golden, at a sale they have maybe once a year if they have enough seconds to warrant it. As far as I know, they haven't had one this year.
