That would be a nice way to take care of the issue. Of course, cost and complexity of manufacture would be added on. Weather it be milling the backspacer or adding a pin or a combo of both, you get no free lunch.I always like seeing the loop built into the backspacer, which allows for a lanyard without sacrificing clip placement and handle size. Same result as the Sebenza's lanyard plug, but integrated into the backspacer. I think there's enough room in the Siren's backspacer to fit the lanyard.

I assure you, it would add cost.I suspect notching the backspacer wouldn't add any cost, it'd just be adding the pin (I'm sure there's an existing part that works) and two holes. Considering the price inflation Spyderco's had lately, they could use a legitimate reason to bump prices. The place it'd be really nice to see is on FRN handles, where you could just add the "vertical" lanyard loop to the mold for each half of the handle. Maybe in the next generation.
So glad you shared this with is. I keep thinking about the same thing, but was hesitant to do it in case it would look too weird. Looks great btw. I've also thought about making my own backspacer for it as well. The Siren is such a great knife! I use it for all the usual daily edc type of task and it performs awesome.I really like the Spyderco Siren but one recurrent critic is the blade to handle ratio.
And it's true the handle is a bit long. How can we improve this?

I don't use lanyards so for me the lanyard hole is useless. There is no metallic liners, only G10, so what if I hand sand the back of the handle to remove the lanyard hole and reduce a little bit the length of the handle ?
So I take out 120 grit and 600 grit sandpapers and 20 minutes later I have a cool Siren :

Now the blade to handle ratio is better :

Comparison with a PM2 and a large Sebenza 21 :

It's really easy to do and it's an advantage of linerless knives. You can customize them![]()
