Alright so... I found an unfortunate issue with the clip... the point of the pocket clip is a bit sharp, not a problem ergonomically but it put a hole in my pocket. I was standing up when I tried to insert the knife into my pocket.

Anyone else have this issue?
Already sent Spyderco an email letting them know about this, hopefully it's just a one off incident.

Hahaha... oh man.
The clip went through one of the perforations on my workout shorts and widened the hole a little... made sense. I saw it coming.
But... well... I think you might just wanna sand down the tip to a wider profile.

I found the original too pointy as well. The STR deep pocket clip I replaced it with is really nice, though.

I have plans of grinding down the point on my clip as well. I havent had it go through a pair of jeans like you but its still an awkward tip.

You need to get you some Levi's! heh jk. Sand it down bro.

I was one of the few who didn't have issues with how the clip looked, but now realize that it does look a little weird in-pocket like a woman's leg or something I dont know haha...Too shiny too, I need to do something about that.

I'd like to get a STR clip for it but he's not making anymore for the time being.

Throw the clip in the dryer in a bottle full of rocks and wd40. The will dull the finish a bit. Ate what I did with mine.

I can reprofile the clip. Not a problem.

Right now I am trying to figure out how to reprofile it without impacting aesthetics and shape

Luis, I had the exact same thing happen to me the other day!!! Right then and there I decided to get an STR, until I get it I am going to take that thing to the belt grinder and round it off a bit. They are sharp...

I did that for an experiment once, I used a Kershaw OsoSweet blade and clip for practice. Turned out Okay/soso, I'm not too confident in my stonewashing skills otherwise I would have done it already. Since STR is out of those Ti clips for the time being, I'm a little hesitant to do anything with the clip.

Louis G. , I think you can just sand down the pointy tip of the clip and slightly round it down. It shouldn't change much in terms of looks. Youtube Pyaoliang's Southard vid, that's what he did. He also acid etched the clip if I recall.

Eschwebach, from what I have read, STR won't be making anymore clips for the Southard, when did you order yours? Should I contact him? I guess it wouldn't hurt...

I also tried stonewashing and it was ok, but I read later that you do have to prep the clip before you just tumble it around with rocks. Not sure exactly what prepping entails, maybe sanding it down first to remover any finish or protective coating. I have not tried it again, but it makes since because I felt like my stonewash was not "strong" enough.

From what I understand he is out of the correct screws to make the pocket clip work. Because of the base plate on his clip he needs longer screws and the stock screws from the existing clip won't work. However, apparently the body screws on the Bee L05-1 or L04 will work and I happen to have one I can scavenge from so I contacted him and it sounds like he is willing to make it.

That's exactly what I did, I had both of those knives (I checked some others, and it looks like some of the other Chinese knives have the same screw, including the chunky EL05 if I recall correctly) and he sent me one of his remaining clips to mount myself. Love it, it works perfectly. :)

I would have one of these knives in my pocket if it wasnt for the clip. Spyderco should do a redesign ASAP. I dont like having to modify a $200 + knife in order to get it to function properly.
