Spyderco Spot

Got to play with it at the SHOT Show this year.
Very cool. I am sure it has changed a bit from the version I got to fondle.

Think it will be a great seller. Very nice fit in the hand, unique handle. I ll buy one.

I REALLY want the folding one that was on display.

I'm certain that Sal has a winner there, but it's not for me. That thing is just plain ugly, so it must work well at whatever it is intended to do. After all, "Ugly is as ugly does."

Is this a folder?

Just PE or other versions?

...Cool-looking knife! That's now on my "gotta have" list! Are there any pictures of the sheath?

I think it is going to be a small fixed blade, for neck carry. You would have to do a search for it to get some more info. :)

Blades

Self Protection Option Tool. Palm-sized all steel fixed blade with a skeletally cut-out handle. Weights 1.3 oz.

Sorry it's all I could find.

From th response here on the forums, this is going to sell like crazy. Personally, I'd buy it with a different blade style. I never have liked that style of blade. Maybe a wharnie or a hawkbill. But I guess that would be too similar to other blades already out there.

S.P.O.T.
Self Protection Option Tool

This is a fixed blade neck knife, designed in collaboration by Sal Glesser and Fred Perrin, based on Perrin's "La Griffe" neck knife designs.

Two versions:

Plain skeletonized in AUS-6, bead blasted.
With Micarta scales in VG-10, satin finished.
*both versions will have the same sheath
*a third version in titanium will depend upon market reaction to the first two offerings

Here is the other version:

I got to play w/ the proto at the NYC show last November. This is a super little knife- feels "bigger" in the hand & I'm certain will cut like a much bigger knife. Fred & Sal have a winner here- no surprise actually. Waiting (im)patiently for this one to hit the street...

FB08BMP- Micarta overlaid edging, PlainEdge MSRP $109.95
FB08BMS- Micarta overlaid edging, SpyderEdge MSRP $109.95
FB08P- Stainless, PlainEdge MSRP $69.95

Also I see the series of holes in the body of the knife. Sal wears a necklace in the same pattern. The story he has to tell about that it symbolizes is very thought provoking.

I've seen Sal's necklace, What's the story?
Ya can't just hang a tease out there like that...
(thx for the heads up on the MSRP)

Ryan - I just received a letter from Spyderco - several SPOT's will be released to collectors in the next 2 or 3 months. RR

Come on let's hear it! :)

I called the SFO yesterday (6/24) and they had no information at all on the SPOT. The SPOT was featured at Blade as production model (as well as the Big Temperance FB). At Blade, Joyce from Spyderco said that the knives were in from Seki and Spyderco was making their own kydex sheaths for the SPOT. In an earlier post, Mr. Glesser commented that he had be wearing a SPOT for several weeks. This is all the information I have

I handled the SPOT at the Blade show. It's goofy looking but it fits my hand well, and I thought that it was pretty cool.
