Spyderco Spot

That blade shape has got to go. Ugly, and would be better as a warncliffe or a simple drop point shape.

Hi Danbo, the "Reverse S" blade shape is very effective in its cutting power, especially with a hollow grind.

The essence and Spirit of Spyderco knives is based on the delivered performance. I believe the model as designed, will do that.

There are at least 25 other "Neck Knives" on the market, many with other more conventional blade shapes. I believe ours will outperform theirs. Besides, we're not into "me too" models.

Even if you were just going to collect a knife, and not ever carry it, you would want that knife to be made within the spirit of the company, or its collector value, IMO, is greatly diminished.

Hi everybody! I'm new to BFs, which has been a terrific education for me reading from the sidelines. I still don't know enough about knives to to offer anything to the knowledge database here, so I hope nobody minds if I ask a question every now and then.

Here's a question: Mr. Glesser, do you have an updated prediction when Spyderco will have the S.P.O.T. available at retail?

Thanks!

Steve K.

Hi Steve. Welcome to the Spyderco forum. This is a good group for Edge-U-cation on sharp pointy things.

The SPOTs are scheduled to be shipping in the next few weeks. The neck sheath is a Janich/Snody style sheath in Kydex. The SPOTs are flat and light. I wore one constantly (except on airlines) for months with a variety of attire. They are very easy to wear, won't twist (not good if they twist as it screws up the grip if one needs it in a hurry), and are inconspicious. They're not going to "drop" out of your hand, if needed. The Fred Perrin style "index finger hole" is a secure concept for a neck knife.
