Spyderco Spur With Stag?

I was watching that auction closely, so I know the exact knife you're talking about.

What you have there is a circa 1995 C32 Spur. One run of these were made (1200 pieces) all in combo edge. Some had blades stamped G-2 and some were stamped GIN-1 (I have an example of each). They had black Kraton on the "front" scale and black Kraton on the clip. If I recall correctly from what Sal said, there were production problems with the knife and at the time they were trying to reduce the number of models in the lineup so the Spur was dropped. Many people also complained that the Kraton on the clip was a littel too "grippy" in the pocket.

At some point in time, someone removed the black Kraton scale insert from your knife and put the stag in it's place. As was mentioned above it is definitely an aftermarket modification. Apparently several were done since I have seen a few on eBay.

The C32 Spur was resurrected in 2004 as a Sprint Run. The Sprint knives had VG-10 blades, gray Kraton on the front scale, and a metal clip (with no Kraton on the clip)

As you may already know, the C32 Spur was a reincarnation of the earlier C04 Executive. If you compare the handle profile on the two knives, you see that they are identical.

The Spur is one of the most underappreciated Spyderco knives, probably because so few were made. I carry a 2004 Sprint Run Spur as my field-dressing knife for hunting. It's a great and powerful small blade that can tackle big jobs. If you carry yours, you'll see what I mean.

Nice catch!

Thanks for all the information about the Spur models. I only discovered these knives recently and am very impressed with them. I think they combine the most blade in the smallest form factor without compromising utility.
I only owned one Spyderco knife ( a serrated Police) until recently but in the last three months I've added 2 Spurs, a Native and an Adventura to my collection.
