I was wondering something. A fellow Forumite emailed me and said that he had a Spyderkey. I sent him the money and got a little blue velvet box. I opened it and there is a little stag handled tie clip knife. The knife doesn't have the Spyderco hole in the blade and the blade is marked TAIYO Japan. Was this actually put out by Spyderco or is it just in the wrong box? The box says Spyderkey. I thought the tie clips were called Hummingbirds. Please let me know what this little jewel is. Thanks!

Sounds like you my have the Tie-Clipit.

Here is a picture of the SpyderKey.

NC - SpyderKeys & Hummingbirds were the same model with diffeent names. We also made tie clipits with the same pattern.

When we were making Tie Clipits, we introduced a line of tie clip knives under the Taiyo lablel to intoduce the maker in America. Kai (Kershaw) later bought out Taiyo.

The Taiyo pieces are very nicely made. I don't think they were made except when Spyderco made them. SFO might still have a few about.
